Jul 30, 2018 · Planar reflections is definitely possible, and might be a good path forwards. The Advanced Water in the unity standard assets is a good example of this - it sets up a camera with a clipping plane to render the reflected view of the scene each frame.

Next you have the Planar Reflection component. This one is used for real-time planar reflections. The reflections are calculated in relation to the height of the parent mesh that has this script attached. You can set several parameters as the reflection masks, turn reflect skybox on or off, or define a clear color. Unreal applies the texture in planar mode which has a very bad result. The texture looks like it’s stretched. It completely ruins my model L. The weird thing is that the application works in a very funny way. Some stones have the stretched part on the sides and some of the on the front.
